Criteria for Grants to Members

Grants to Support Club members (Approved 29 September 2016)

1) Attendance at World Championships (ITU selected and sanctioned events)

Any person being given these grants must meet these criteria before being considered:

a.      At least two years of MTC membership prior to the event

b.      Participated in at least 5 club events – either competing or marshalling/race director role (or family input) in the past one year before the World event.

2) Junior Development Camps (e.g. National Junior Academy Camps; TriNZ Development Camps) and National Secondary School Championships.

Any person being given these grants must meet these criteria before being considered:

a.      At least one year of membership to MTC prior to the event.

b.      Participated in at least two club events of the MTC in the 12 months leading up to the event (eg triathlon/duathlon series)

c.       Being a junior for these grants is defined as attending school or being under the age of 19 years on the date of the camp.

3)  Support for Elite Athletes

At the discretion of the committee one off grants may be given to any member involved at the Under 23 and Elite level – selected by TriNZ. They may be involved in the High performance Squad or National Talent Squad. This is to support their attendance at World events and other development squad events (They must meet the criteria of membership and participation as per the World Championship above)

·         Note: the amount per person will be determined by the MTC committee depending on current club financial position. This may vary from year to year and from event to event. Past grants amounts do not imply future grants will be maintained at the same level.

·         During any one financial year (e.g. July 1 to June 30) no member will receive more than $500 in the form of grants for any purpose.

·         People do not need to apply for these grants; they will be given on completion of the event after proof of participation is obtained.

·         Note: people who meet criteria still need to be approved by the MTC committee and may not be awarded if so decided by the management committee.

·         Grants would be advised by email and paid directly into nominated bank accounts.
